Rod Hutchinson Extreme 5 Sleeping Bag

Built to keep you warm in punishing conditions, this is Rod Hutchinson’s ultimate sleeping bag

The Big Questions

‘Extreme 5 II’… Sounds like these bags means business?
They certainly do! These are five-season bags that’ll keep you warm in conditions as cold as -10C. But you can also use them in the warmer months without any discomfort.

How does that work?
These bags have got a zip-out inner, so you can use the shell of the bag as a lighter summer option.

What makes them so good?
The hollow-fibre filling provides maximum heat retention; the outer shell is breathable and waterproof to cope with the rigours of bank life, and the inners are a mix of fleece and beautifully soft peachskin materials. The ‘Eazi-Grip’ stirrup pullers also make grabbing hold of the zips dead simple for a quick exit. The Extreme 5 IIs attach to your bedchair with a central strap and two end hook-over pockets.

What’s the XL one like?
It’s 10cm wider than the standard bag for larger bedchairs. Both bags are 220cm long. The smaller one weighs in at 7.1kg and its big brother is 8kg.
