Should you change your line for different waters?

Should you change your main line to suit different waters (i.e. the clarity and/or depth) or should you stick to one line through the whole year? Mickey, Norfolk

Max Cottis says: Simple answer: yes. My choice of line is determined by a number factors: size and type of water whilst taking into account if it is snaggy, weedy and the range I’ll be fishing at. To allow me to cover all these situations, I carry three sets of spools for each reel, my default set is loaded with a 15lb mono. My second set is loaded with 17lb fluorocarbon and the third set loaded with braid for situations where I need zero-stretch and may need to bully fish through heavy weed or away from snags.”
