Beat the 'no plastics' ban with these clever grooved Hair stops from Carp Tarts

Image

These interesting-looking Hair stops are a collaboration between Carp Tart and Shilham Boilie Rollers to create a new twist on the Hair stop. The caterpillar-esque grooved stops aren’t plastic or artificial at all—they are actually made from boilie mixes with a degree of buoyancy to help balance out a bottom bait and add visibility and smell to your presentation. For those of us fishing the increasing number of waters on which plastics are banned, these make a great alternative to those rubberised toppers that have proved so popular—yet are always ‘fishing’ if you snap off—in recent years.

These more environmentally friendly Hair stops have a fruity aroma to them and, as Carp Tart themselves put it, “they won’t make a bad bait good, but they will make a good bait better”. There are three grooves along each topper, so you can cut down the length to suit your requirements, making sure you’ve tied your Hair rig with a slightly larger loop to accommodate the width of these stops.

Each pot offers a range of colours so you’ll find a solution whether you want to be bold and bright or prefer to fish ‘match the hatch’ style. Ideal for adding to your rucksack as something a bit different from the norm, particularly on waters where the carp have seen it all before.
