This Pod Is Gorgeous! Solar Blacklite

Sure, this might be the most expensive rod pod ever made in carp fishing history. But let’s set aside the price for a moment and simply admire its beauty!

Now, let’s wipe that saliva away from the corner of your mouth, and we’ll dive into the show! Luke Venus, CARPology’s YouTube Presenter, had the pleasure of testing this exquisite pod, and here’s what he thought of it…

What were your first impressions of the BlackLite Worldwide Pod?
Oh, this is something else! As pods go, this is one of those that would make even the most die-hard of bankstick enthusiast’s lip quiver! It’s got everything you could ask for: the looks, the functionality, and the fact it weighs less than most camera lenses!

How good is the build quality, though?
For such a lightweight design, it’s surprisingly solid. The bulk of the pod is made from aluminium which has been hard-anodised. The ‘wearing’ points, such as the ratchet mechanism and the points of each of the legs however, Solar has decided to keep this stainless. Not only does this confirm the pod’s longevity, it’s also a subtle nod to its roots.

What are your favourite features on the pod?
It has to be the ratchet system. This isn’t a new feature as we’ve seen it on a few of Solar’s high-end pods in the past, namely the Worldwide Pod and Worldwide Mini. But it’s such a great addition to an already class-leading design, the increased flexibility it offers emphasises just how far ahead of the game Solar still are.

It’s called ‘BlackLite’ for a reason—but how much lighter is it compared to other pods you’ve reviewed?
Oh, it’s super light, there’s no question there, with it coming in at just 840g. To put this into context, I recently reviewed a stainless pod from another company, which weighed just under 5kg!

What’s included in the price?
Within the kit, you get everything you’d expect from a full pod kit: 4 x 6” adjustable legs, a pair of BlackLite Pro-Loc Adjustable 3 Rod Buzz Bars, the pod itself, and a heavy-duty SP Pod Bag to carry it all in.

Finally, would you choose this over other pods you’ve reviewed on the channel?
This is one of those luxuries in life that, realistically, you don’t need… but if you can afford it, you absolutely should! A Ferrari isn’t going to get you to the shops any quicker during rush hour, but it sure as hell feels better than going in a Ford KA! The BlackLite Pod is that Ferrari, it’s not going to hold your rods any better than the majority of pods on the market, but just look at it… £449.99
