Surface fishing is such an enjoyable method of catching them, and here Tom explains how to tie the perfect rig to do so every time!

WHAT YOU NEED:

30g Nash Bolt Machine

10lb NXT Zig-Flo

Size 8 Uni Swivel

Hooklink Sleeve (Slim)

Size 10 Flota Claw Hook

Zig Aligner Tube

12mm Scopex Squid Pop-Up

1. Start with the Bolt Machine. Thread this, and the rubber insert, onto your main line and tie the Size 8 Uni Swivel on using a Six-Turn Grinner. Finish off by pulling the swivel into the rubber insert.

2. Now for the hooklink. Take 6ft of the 10ft Zig-Flo, create a Hair loop and thread on a 12mm Scopex Squid Pop-Up, securing in place with a Hair stop.

3. Take size 10 Flota Claw and attach to the hooklink using a Knotless Knot, ensuring the hookbait is tight to the hook.

4. Cut off a small slither of Zig Aligner Tube and push this over the eye of hook to (a) cover knot and (b) ensure the line is leaving the hook at the perfect angle.

5. Slide on a Hooklink Sleeve (Slim), attach the hooklink to the Uni Swivel, again using a Six-Turn Grinner, and then slide said sleeve over the swivel to finish the rig off; this will help kick the hooklink away from the Bolt Machine and avoid tangles.
